Music for Events
I play for various types of events, including parties, receptions, openings, galas, benefits, memorials and corporate events. If you think I may be a fit for your event, please get in touch and we can discuss the details.
Below are answers to frequently asked questions. I am also happy to answer any questions via phone or the contact box to the right.
How does it work? What do I need to do? To have me at your event, simply follow these steps:
- Contact me with all the details of your event, special requests, questions, etc. by the form at the top of this page.
- I will get back to you with an estimate, and/or any questions I may have and/or….
- I will send you a contract by email.
- You return the contract with deposit.
- You sit back and relax, knowing that all is set with the music

What is your availability? Of course more lead time is better, but feel free to inquire about my availability anytime. If I am unavailable, I can typically refer you to someone else.
How much does it cost?
| Normal fee range for “background music” | $400-700 for the initial hour |

| Travel for outside the Portland are | $.50 per mile |

Check or cash:
You can send a check (made out to Allen Mathews) when you return the contract, and then mail a check for the remainder closer to the event (or give it to me at the event if necessary).

Do you play for benefits or non-profit organizations? I love to play for non-profits, benefits, and other charitable causes, and always welcome a chance to help out with my music. I have special rates for these types of events, and am sometimes willing to donate my time outright. Please fill out a booking inquiry, or call me. My number is 503-891-9878.
I am also interested in partnering for certain projects or events. If you have something in mind, or would like to brainstorm possibilities, please do get in touch.
Do you play special requests? I am happy to play specific songs if desired. Typically this does not involve any extra charges. However, I reserve the right to ask for an extra fee if the specific requests will take an unusual amount of work to prepare.
